A repository of pre-modern Indian mathematical and astronomical texts.
Welcome to Gaṇita-Jyotiṣa Saṃgraha, a digital library dedicated to the preservation and study of pre-modern Indian mathematical and astronomical texts. This website provides original Sanskrit verses along with English translations and possible contemporary proofs supporting the claims made therein, presented in a clear, accessible format. Our goal is to make this rich body of knowledge, which spans over a millennium, available to scholars, students, and enthusiasts worldwide.
The texts are organized chronologically. We begin with foundational works from the Vedic period and proceed through the Classical and Medieval eras, covering a wide range of topics from arithmetic and algebra to planetary motion and celestial mechanics.
This collection includes key works from the great luminaries of the Indian scientific tradition, providing a comprehensive overview of their contributions to mathematics and astronomy.
